As we begin to see summer approach, many weekends quickly book up with graduation parties celebrating the grads we love most. As a host, it can be challenging to think of new, unique ways to reinvent the classic graduation party. While most parties are in the evening after commencement festivities, consider trading in that tradition for a morning get-together.
Opt for open house - Let guests come and go as they please. Weekend graduation events have many people booked up solid. Offering an open house party means more guests still stop by and allows your grad to enjoy the company without feeling overwhelmed.
Do-it-yourself menu - No point in doing a large sit-down spread when guests will want to mingle and move around. Setup various food stations for everyone to help themselves. Consider a yogurt and fruit parfait bar, iced coffee station or even a colorful donut display.
Keep decor simple but festive - It's easy to be carried away by all the elaborate decor options that become available around graduation season. Keep your decor simple, timeless and color-oriented. Select a palette that is meaningful to the grad. Perhaps university colors, high school colors or just a personal favorite.
Regardless of the party you host, graduation weekend should be about celebrating accomplishments and enjoying the company of those who mean most. Cheers to the class of 2016 and adventures to come.
