on friday, our founder, lee rhodes, was named 2016 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year in the specialty retail category for the pacific northwest region. by now, everyone knows how proud we are of lee and the community that she fosters with glassybaby, but a few others wanted to weigh in with their appreciation and best wishes too.
“congratulations to lee. she has truly created a community dedicated to hope and healing. we are honored that glassybaby has expanded beyond its seattle roots into the bay area. our partnership has not only been deeply meaningful, but truly authentic, as we jointly ‘light a candle’ for love, inclusivity and justice.”
- Nicole Brown, director of institutional giving, Glide (glassybaby giving partner)
“lee’s inspiring vision has been very important to UW Medical Center, helping provide short- and long-term housing for families staying in seattle for cancer treatment, among other projects. We very much appreciate these contributions, which combine her entrepreneurial spirit with a deep belief in helping others.”
- Paul G. Ramsey, ceo, UW Medicine (glassybaby giving partner)
“when lee started glassybaby in her garage 16 years ago, no one, including her, imagined the company would become as successful as it has. but given the clarity of vision, commitment to giving back, and entrepreneurial passion that she has exhibited along the way, it certainly is not a surprise.
from its unique business model to the simplicity of its product offerings, glassybaby has enhanced the lives of its customers, partners and employees in many powerful and memorable ways, much like its founder. congratulations, lee, on this deserving honor.”
- Bill Cummings, ceo, glassybaby
