Candi and Natalie will be first in line at this year’s seconds sale January 26th.
We have a winner! Or shall I say two? Lee has selected two sisters, Candi Criddle and Natalie Decker, from South Jordan, Utah, to be first in line at the seconds sale when doors open this upcoming Saturday, Jan. 26, at 8 a.m. and we couldn’t be more excited to have them. We were all blown away by their entry and I guarantee you will be too. Who would have thought to use glassybaby in such an unconventional way? These sisters gave us all a little holiday concert with their renditions of “Joy to the World,” “Ode to Joy” and “Doh a Deer,” using glassybaby as their instrument. I highly suggest you check it out.
Not only did they provide us with an entertaining video, but they shared their love for glassybaby in a brief written entry and it sure hit a chord with us. In their entry, Candi wrote, “I’ve always been fascinated by the way things sound. It was only a matter of time before I tapped my glassybaby and arranged them by pitch.” After Natalie heard about the Seconds Sale First in Line Contest, she called her sister and said, “You know what we have to do.”
As original residents of Washington, these sisters are familiar with our gloomy weather and dreary winter days. “Sometimes I remember where I came from, where people make the most beautiful lights to shine on days when the sun does not,” Candi wrote. Well, we’re beyond happy to help shine a light on those dark days.
Candi and Natalie will be flown in on Friday, Jan. 25, and will be staying at the Pan Pacific Hotel in downtown Seattle. Upon learning that they won the contest, Candi exclaimed, via email, “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!! We’re just so thrilled! I guess it’s finally paying off that Nat and I are such nerds.” Meanwhile, Natalie wrote, “Yay, yay and YAY! Candi and I were at a fitness class when we got your email and after screaming and hugging and making complete fools of ourselves, we totally left early. So great!”
We loved their entry, we loved their reaction and we can’t wait to meet them both this Saturday at the glassybaby seconds sale in Madrona. Hope to see you all there!
With just over a week until our seconds sale, I want you all to know about our Seconds Sale First in Line Contest before it’s too late. Our seconds sale is known for drawing a line of people that wraps around the block and beyond. We know it’s not ideal to camp out in front of our store, especially at this time of year, in order to be first in line, so we’ve come up with a solution.
The Seconds Sale First in Line Contest will grant one winner and a friend two places at the front of the line before doors open at 8 a.m. Along with the joy of being first in line, we will fly you out here from any of the lower 48 states and provide a two-night stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel.
In order for you to win this contest, we want to hear from you! In 100 words or less, please explain why you deserve to win. Do you have a special memory, story or simply a love for glassybaby? Tell us about it. Photos and videos are encouraged too. Hurry up though! The last day to submit an entry is tomorrow, Jan. 18. The winner will be chosen by our founder, Lee Rhodes, and will be announced on Monday. We can’t wait to hear from you!
the glassybaby seconds sale is January 26th!
The biannual glassybaby seconds sale is fast approaching. Are you ready? With over 7,000 seconds, we are eager for your arrival. So mark your calendars because January 26 will be here faster than you know it.
Our seconds sale is an event in which we sell the products that didn’t quite make it to the finish line in the race to becoming a glassybaby. These votive holders might be a little too small, a little too large, have a shape that is uncharacteristic of a glassybaby or a number of other minor imperfections. We greatly value the individuality and uniqueness of each glassybaby, but we want to ensure that we’re putting our best product onto the shelves for our customers.
Lucky for you, all of these seconds need homes and they come at a reduced price! As I mentioned before, most of our seconds have just a little something about them that prevented them from becoming glassybaby. However, there are some crazy-looking seconds; I even spotted a transparent blue one with hot pink lines running all around it. Whatever you’re looking for, I’m sure we’ve got it.
Doors open at 8 a.m., but I suggest you arrive much, much earlier to beat the crowd.
Hope to see you there!
…and with it the opportunity for new beginnings and change.
The New Year is finally here and along with it comes the opportunity for new
beginnings and change. Buried beneath the champagne toasts, the party hats
and all the celebratory parties is the pressure of a New Year’s resolution. It’s not
creating one that’s problematic; it’s trying to stick to that resolution that usually
leaves us feeling disappointed and defeated. So, why not come up with a New Year’s resolution that you can actually uphold?
Every year, I tell myself I’m going to give back more, as I’m sure a lot of you do too. I also tell myself that I’ll finally finish decorating my room, the bathroom, the living room and the kitchen. Basically, I need to decorate.
When I discovered glassybaby a couple years ago, I was so excited because I had found a product that did it all. A votive holder, a beautifully colored glasswork and a fine piece of art, glassybaby is all-in-one décor that everyone can use. With all different colors and the one of-a-kind characteristic each hand-blown glass votive has, glassybaby will simultaneously fit in and stand out among everyone’s home décor.
glassybaby donates 10 percent from all sales to different organizations; several of them give back to cancer patients. Every glassybaby purchase helps someone in need. And you can help too. Some of my favorite giving sets for the New Year are ‘a new day,’ ‘discovery,’ ‘catalyst’ and ‘inspired by you.’ Any one of these sets will warm up your home and brighten your décor.
Regardless of your resolution, we wish you a happy new year and hope to see you soon!
new voice of the forever glassybaby blog
Hello glassybaby friends and family,
I’m very pleased to announce that I’ll be joining the blog team in writing posts for all of you to read and connect with glassybaby this year. I can’t wait to hear from all of you and learn your stories, but first, I’ll introduce myself. My name is Jordan and I’ve been working with glassybaby for one year and three months. I began working in the store, but after a year, I transitioned to the position of quality control manager.
Now, my journey with the blog is beginning and I must admit that I’m both excited and nervous. As a recent graduate from the University of Washington with a degree in journalism, I’m very passionate about writing and editing. I hope you will share your stories with me so I can incorporate them into the blog and spread the glassybaby story around the world.
We’re looking forward to a wonderful year, so please join us along the way!
Thank you for reading,
When I tuned into the Seahawks playoff game this past Sunday it was towards the end of the first quarter. Much to my dismay, I found our Seattle Seahawks down 14-0! Now I’m not overly superstitious, but I knew something had to be done. Without delay I scanned my glassybaby collection and chose a navy, white, and lime green to light in support of the team. It wasn’t until after they were shinning brightly on my coffee table that I realized how aptly named my selections were; ‘forever,’ ‘hope,’ and ‘imagine.’ It was meant to be. Once those babies were lit, the Redskins didn’t score a single point while the Seahawks marched on to victory. ESPN might tell you that it was Marshawn Lynch’s 132 rushing yards, or Russell Wilson’s tenacity that won the day, but just between you and me I know it was the glassybaby. In any case, we’ll certainly be lighting up our lucky candles next Sunday in my household!
Did you know that glassybaby in Madrona has an event venue attached to the hotshop and retail store? It is the perfect spot for a variety of celebrations—from birthdays to baby showers, from graduations to corporate team-building events. Earlier this month, a local family hosted a one-of-a-kind sixteenth birthday party for their daughter and five of her very lucky bffs. In addition to selecting a glassybaby from the store, each guest got to work one-on-one with a glass artist to create a unique piece of glass art. Happy sweet sixteenth, Annie!
