After tallying more than 4,500 votes from across the country, glassybaby unveiled the winner of its ‘million dollar baby’ contest: ‘dream’ with original art by Fay Jones. The limited-edition glassybaby will be available in stores and online beginning Friday, November 23rd. Proceeds from the sale of the ‘million dollar baby’ will benefit Highland Food Bank in Tieton, Washington.
The Highland Food Bank has been serving the Upper Yakima Valley for over 20 years. Each month, the volunteer-run food bank feeds more than 1,500 people and provides toilet paper, laundry soap and other essentials. They also provide a book for each child who visits. The glassybaby donation will go towards a much-needed truck to help deliver food to those in need.
Seattle-based artist, Fay Jones, stopped by the Madrona studio last week to present Lee Rhodes, glassybaby founder, with the original sketch for the winning ‘million dollar baby’. Fay is one of the Northwest’s most recognizable and beloved artists, with work featured in over 100 solo and group exhibitions. Her works can be viewed at The Grover Thurston Gallery in Seattle, Washington, and at Laura Russo Gallery in Portland, Oregon, where she has an exhibit opening December 6th.
