ballet [ba-ley, bal-ey]
The word ballet comes from the French and was borrowed into English around 1630. The French word in turn has its origin in Italian balletto, a diminutive of ballo (dance) which comes from Latin ballo, ballare, meaning “to dance”, which in turn comes from the Greek “βαλλίζω” (ballizo), “to dance, to jump about”.
“Dancing and jumping about” is exactly what I was doing when I heard the news that my hands-down favorite, go-to color was gracefully making a comeback onto our shelves. This beautiful, pale pink with just the right grey undertones makes me want to pirouette all the way to my madrona store to my get my hands on one.* ‘ballet’ has been out of production for years; a result of limited access to the color bar. Let’s just say that the wait was well worth it! It’s back and more beautifully elegant than ever. Not too orange, not too red, this graceful and expressive, gentle beauty is in my opinion, the perfect pink.
