Rescue & Hope: How glassybaby Customers Help Pasadena Humane Save Lives

With proceeds from our seconds sale, glassybaby was honored to donate $60,000 to Pasadena Humane—funds that provided urgent care, shelter, and hope when it was needed most.

As wildfires raged, Pasadena Humane became a sanctuary amid the chaos.

Imagine frightened animals—some trapped, others injured by flames or hit by cars while fleeing. Many families evacuated with their pets, only to find themselves unable to secure temporary shelter that allowed animals.

Pasadena Humane has been a beacon of hope for both pets and strays, working tirelessly to rescue terrified animals, reunite lost pets with their families, and provide shelter for those with nowhere else to go. The road to recovery is long, but every act of kindness helps bring these animals closer to safety, health, and home.

Even before the LA wildfires, local shelters were already under strain from the ripple effects of another disaster: the Maui fires. Many displaced animals from Maui had found temporary refuge in LA shelters. When the LA fires broke out, the demand for resources surged. Neighboring shelters took in Maui rescues to make room for animals needing immediate help. Pasadena Humane did not turn down any animal in need. They took in parrots, ponies, and even had a firefighter bring them a goldfish scooped up in a mason jar.

In the life saving efforts of the past few weeks, Pasadena Humane:

  • Provided safe shelter and critical care for over 1,000 animals, including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and wildlife suffering from severe burn injuries.
  • Reunited more than 1,500 lost pets with their families, both at the shelter and in the field.
  • Offered emergency boarding for 500+ pets whose families were displaced.
  • Distributed 120,000 lbs. of pet food and supplies to help struggling pet owners.

Their work is far from over. Nearly 150 animals remain in emergency boarding, waiting for their families to rebuild. Their veterinary team continues to treat burns, smoke inhalation, and trauma. Rescuers are still finding lost and injured animals in fire-ravaged areas. And every day, the Helping Paws Pet Food Pantry ensures no pet goes hungry.
